The Miami Heat are going to have to fight if they want to acquire Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

Lillard and his agent Aaron Goodwin met with Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin Monday. After the meeting, it was determined they plan to move forward with Lillard as the starting point guard.

“I met with Dame and Aaron Goodwin this afternoon," Cronin released in a statement. "We had a great dialogue. We remain committed to building a winner around Dame."

The Heat remain interested in acquiring the high-scoring guard. He brings instant offense and would serve as the perfect complement to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. The Heat would likely have to part ways with guard Tyler Herro, but Lillard is worth it. He is coming off arguably the best season of his career, averaging 32.2 points and 7.3 assists.
