Jordan Clarkson Deal Dubbed as Jazz's 'Dream Offseason Trade Idea'

The Utah Jazz veteran could be on his way out this summer.

As we approach the 2024 offseason for the Utah Jazz, many around the league are beginning to project what moves could be on the horizon for this rebuilding roster as they enter the next stages of their team-building process. Armed with a couple of first-round picks for June, an abundance of cap space, and rising young talent already on hand, there are reasons for optimism in Salt Lake City.

However, while the franchise's rebuild is moving on the right track, some long-lasting fan favorites could be on the way out as a result of this turning of a new leaf. We've already seen veteran big man Kelly Olynyk suffer that unfortunate fate during February's trade deadline, and the Jazz may not be done just yet.

In Bleacher Report's recent article detailing a dream trade for every NBA team this summer, Zach Buckley detailed Jordan Clarkson as a prime suspect to be moved this offseason with to the existing guard depth on the roster alongside his potential market value.

"The Jazz clearly value what Clarkson brings offensively, Buckley said. "But with Keyonte George and Collin Sexton doing everything they can to cement themselves as this team's long-term backcourt, Clarkson's attacking attributes seem a bit superfluous. Barring an unlikely leap next season, Utah won't reside anywhere near the top of the West, and this front office has twice proved that being sorta good isn't good enough. While some might argue that should render Lauri Markkanen expendable, he's at least young enough (26) for the Jazz to believe they'll field a competitive club before he exits his prime. The same isn't true for Clarkson, who will turn 32 this summer and should command significant interest from win-now shoppers with scoring deficiencies."

Clarkson was a player we saw have significant value across this past deadline before the Jazz decided to hold their cards into the summer. Now, it may finally be the time to see the former Sixth Man of the Year pack his bags from the city he's called home for the four and a half seasons.

This year, Clarkson's reverted to his sixth-man role to average 17.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists on 41.3/29.4/88.1 shooting splits. While it may not be in Utah, it's clear the soon-to-be 32-year-old still has enough in the tank to be a key contributor on the offensive side of the ball. If the Jazz wanted to get some value in return for him, there would be takers.

If it is Clarkson's final breath in Utah, it would effectively turn the page to the next era of guard play in Jazz history. With fresh blood like Collin Sexton and Keyonte George leading the charge for the near future, this backcourt lies in good hands and has immense opportunity for growth.

Keep an eye on what happens to Clarkson in the coming months as uncertainty surrounds him and the rest of this Jazz roster.
