Lakers Injury Report: Anthony Davis Gives Cryptic Update on Eye Injury

Anthony Davis spoke to reporters about what was going on with his cornea abrasion.

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis had to leave early in the first period when he was accidentally struck in the face by Golden State Warriors player Trayce Jackson-Davis.

The result of the injury is now being referred to as a "cornea abrasion." Despite having taken damage to his eye, Davis still suited up last night to help the Lakers blow past the Atlanta Hawks.

After the big win, Davis was asked about the severity of his injury, but his answer was a bit cryptic.

"Yeah, just going to the eye doctors, figuring things out. That's all I can tell y'all right now...I'm not telling y'all something for sure...just got to do a couple more things, but after those things—everything should be fine."

Davis was being a bit coy in terms of telling reporters what exactly happened to his eye. Davis also explained to Dave McMenamin that the abrasion occurred "directly in the middle of my eye." He explained it felt like his eye had been "torn open."

The extent of Davis' injury was enough to hold him out most of the game against the Warriors on Saturday. He did suit up last night, which gives hope that he is healing properly—but his choice to withhold information about the injury is a bit strange.

The Lakers need Davis to be on the court, as the gameplan with him and LeBron James is always better than James being by himself. The team is especially needing wins to ensure they will not have to face the play-in tournament for the playoffs.
