Trade Destinies Discovered For Lakers-Turned-Bulls Andre Drummond, Alex Caruso

In this story:
With the NBA trade deadline coming and going, your Los Angeles Lakers refrained from making any moves.
The front office thought it better to hold firm with the roster that has led them to a stellar, uh, 27-25 record and the West's ninth seed, we suppose instead of making a bad trade for the sake of making a deal.
Despite all the hype surrounding the deadline, Los Angeles is going with the team that they currently have. They were linked with multiple players throughout the process, including former Lakers big man Andre Drummond from the Chicago Bulls and ex-LA combo guard Alex Caruso.
However, the Bulls' front office decided to hold onto Drummond as they tried to make a push to, uh, stay in the Eastern Conference's ninth seed. Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes was first with the news. "Competitive" stuff, Chicago.
In 51 games with the Bulls this season, Drummond has averaged 7.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He would have been a serviceable big-man addition to this Lakers team, but Chicago opted to hold onto him for the rest of the season.
Caruso, too, will be staying in Chicago, despite his insanely team-friendly contract being worth at least one draft pick.
The Lakers will now be looking to make additions to the roster through the buyout market, and they believe that they have a good chance to land some talent. Los Angeles still has LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster, so the front office is optimistic that they can make another surprising playoff run.
The rest of the season will majorly play into how things go for the Lakers moving forward with James holding a player option at the end of the year. Los Angeles will need to show him that they can make a difference come playoff time, otherwise, James could walk out the door this summer.
