Lakers News: LA Continues To Slide Down Week 12 Power Rankings

The roller coaster season for the Lakers continues.

A roller coaster 2023-24 NBA season for your Los Angeles Lakers continues with them now having won two games in a row. After L.A. dropped four in a row, they were reeling, but they have gotten themselves back to a .500 record.

However, the recent losing ways don't fade away completely. The Lakers have seen themselves slide down in the standings, but also in the power rankings across the metrics as well.

On CBS Sports, the Lakers sit at 19 overall in the power rankings. This is down two spots from the last edition.

"The swirling rumor mill may have been briefly quieted with the Lakers' win over the Clippers on Sunday, but there's no denying their poor play of late. Prior to Sunday's win, the Lakers had dropped four straight and nine of their previous 11 games, prompting LeBron James to say "we just suck right now." The struggling offense mustered just 104 points per 100 possessions in three games this week."

Per Colin-Ward Henninger of CBS Sports

NBA.com has the Lakers coming in at number 20.

"There were a lot of teams with mixed results last week, and the Lakers were among them. Just when everything seemed to be going downhill, they salvaged their week with their second straight win over the Clippers."

Per John Schuhmann of NBA.com

Clutch Sports slots Lakers in the same terrain, at number 19.

"The Los Angeles Lakers surprisingly pulled off a win against the Clippers on Sunday night, ending what had become a losing skid everyone around the league was talking about. Darvin Ham has been the focus in Los Angeles with external pressure pushing for a change in leadership. However, it doesn't appear as if the Lakers are going to be moving on from Ham anytime soon, as the head coach seems pretty confident in his status."

Per Brett Siegel of Clutch Sports

And The Athletic placed the Lakers at number 20, down three spots from the last ranking.

"But I think they need to approach this like there is no tomorrow. They got one title out of the LBJ-Anthony Davis duo, but any move that can give them a real chance of winning the West needs to be done. If that means future picks and Austin Reaves, so be it. Deal with acquiring assets for the future later"

Per Zach Harper of The Athletic
