Lakers News: LeBron James Shoots Down Jealousy Rumors Over Winning In-Season MVP Over AD

In this story:
The Los Angeles Lakers are the winners of the inaugural in-season tournament championship. The Lakers displayed physicality and togetherness and showed they were true championship contenders throughout this tournament to bring home the Cup.
LA went undefeated in the process and was led by none other than their championship duo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Each made their presence known in the tournament, resulting in a dominant run. Although both were masterful throughout, James walked home with the in-season tournament MVP, and deservedly so.
However, Davis also displayed his dominance, especially in the championship game, but it wasn't enough to be named MVP.
After the game, James was asked if there was any problem between the duo on who was named the MVP, and he quickly shut down any speculation on that front.
"I know who I am, he knows who he is," James told ESPN when asked about his partnership with Davis that's in its fifth season -- longer than he teamed up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami or with
Kyrie Irving
and
Kevin Love
in Cleveland. "So, there's no friction. We're not trying to compete with one another on the court or on a lifestyle basis. He knows who he is, I know who I am.
"The only thing we're trying to do is hold each other accountable when we get to work and try to be the best we can be for each other, and when one is not going well, try to pick each other up. There's no jealousy. There's not a jealous bone in our bodies. We're never jealous of one another. Ever."

James displayed all tournament long that he is still the King. In six games prior to the championship game, the 38-year-old averaged 26.8 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.5 rebounds while only averaging 30 minutes per game.
However, Davis' performance against Indiana alone could've named him MVP. Against Indiana, The Brow put up a season-high 41 points on 16-for-24 shooting, 20 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks in his best outing of the season.
These two teammates are more than that; they are friends, and it's a big reason they have been so successful together. You don't get this far with each other if there is resentment or jealousy between the two. AD and James know they can't do it without one another, and hopefully, Saturday's win was the beginning of something special.
