Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith has reportedly made a decision on his future with the team.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Finney-Smith is expected to decline his player option and enter free agency.

“The other concern there is Dorian Finney Smith, his free-agency. What interest is out there for him. He’s got a player-option that he’s gotta decide by the end of the month.”

Finney-Smith's player option is worth $15.4 million.

The 32-year-old forward will test his luck in free agency. While the Lakers would have loved for him to opt in, there is a chance that they could re-sign him, but it won't likely be for the same price as his current contract.

Finney-Smith spent more than half the season with the team after he was traded from the Brooklyn Nets. The Lakers traded D'Angelo Russell for Finney-Smith, and it was a move that turned out to be vital.

The veteran forward was crucial for the Lakers, as he took their defense to another level, defending multiple positions and hitting timely shots when needed.

His future with the team had been up in the air before this latest development, but things are starting to come into focus.

Finney-Smith was a steady presence for the Lakers. Over 43 games — including 20 starts — he posted averages of 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.9 steals per game while shooting an efficient 44.3 percent from the floor and 39.8 percent from three-point range.

Now gearing up for his 10th year in the league, the 32-year-old veteran remains a valuable piece — but it’s still unclear where he’ll be suiting up when the new season tips off.

The coming weeks will tell us a lot.
