In this story:

Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Luka Doncic continued his torrid offensive pace behind a game-high 42 points in the 127-113 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, making just the second player in league history, alongside Michael Jordan, to reach 600 points scored in March.

Doncic is now one of only 10 players to ever reach that mark in a single month in NBA history, while surpassing Kobe Bryant for the most points scored in March in Lakers history.

He joins Jordan, James Harden and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the last four players with 600 or more points scored in a month.

It came on the same night the six-time All-Star added another impressive feat to his resume, becoming the third-youngest player to reach 15,000 career points. He trails only his teammate LeBron James (25 years, 79 days) and Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant (26 years, 78 days).

Doncic sits just ahead of two Laker legends in Bryant (27 years, 136 days) and Wilt Chamberlain (27 years, 156 days) to fill out the five fastest to hit that threshold.

His 42-point performance against the Cavaliers also pushed his league lead to 16 games with at least 40 points, while tying Elgin Baylor for the sixth-most in Lakers history. Doncic joined Baylor (three times) and Bryant (three times) as the only Lakers to reach that mark in a season.

He also extended his NBA-best mark with his 44th 30-point outing of the season, which is the sixth-most in a single campaign in franchise history. It was also his league-leading 27th 30-point double-double of the season, tying Baylor for the seventh-most in Lakers history.

Doncic wrapped up a historic offensive showing in March as he notched his 13th consecutive game with at least 30 points. That stretch includes posting six 40-point performances, topped by a season-high and Lakers’ personal best 60 points.

It also featured him joining Jordan as the only players to average 40 or more points over a six-game road span.

All of that should only further underline his MVP candidacy, as he’s playing at a scoring pace level that is unmatched across the league. Meanwhile, the Lakers are experiencing tremendous success behind his stellar play, winning 16 of their last 18 games, including a 15-2 record in March.

Los Angeles will look to stay on track on Thursday night on the road against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
