The Los Angeles Lakers season has been full of hills and valleys, so with the trade deadline approaching, they are expected to be very active. The biggest name linked with them is All-Star guard Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks.

Murray would give them more defensive prowess on the perimeter, and he can also get his own shot at the basket. He has also improved his three-point shooting this season, which would help the Lakers out tremendously.

The Athletic's Jovan Buha joined HoopsHype to discuss potential options for the Lakers at the trade deadline, and he gave some interesting insight into the plans. There has been speculation that if the team is to trade for Murray, it would likely be a three-team deal, sending D'Angelo Russell elsewhere.

Buha mentions the Brooklyn Nets as a possible third team, with a player from them coming back to Los Angeles as well.

"I think Washington is an interesting team, as you said. I think Brooklyn is another team. Can the Lakers potentially expand that deal and try to get Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, or Royce O’Neale?

Between these players, the Lakers' preference would likely be Finney-Smith or Royce O'Neale. They would fit a need for the Lakers and give them another knock-down type of shooter.

If Los Angeles could swing a deal to land one of these and Murray, the trade deadline would be seen as a win. The front office has been looking all across the league to upgrade the roster, and this could be the move to make that happen.

The Lakers need to add a few pieces to the puzzle for it to move the needle. They want to win another championship this season, and a move like this could be what they are looking for.
