Cam Johnson to take imaging after leaving Nets’ game vs. 76ers with a nasty ankle injury

Cam left the game prematurely after landing awkwardly on his three-point shot in Q1.

The Brooklyn Nets have entered their Tuesday’s showcase against the Philadelphia 76ers massively shorthanded with Ben Simmons (nerve impingement), Day’Ron Sharpe (wrist) and Cam Thomas (ankle) inactive.

Despite eventually notching a 112-107 victory at home, they couldn’t endure another injury blow as Cam Johnson gained an apparent right ankle sprain.

At what point did Cam sustained his ankle injury?

Cam sustained the ankle injury at the 8:20 mark of the first period as he landed awkwardly from the Kyle Lowry contest of his three-point shot. While he drained the trey and clinched the four-point play from the veteran, Johnson went down and held his ankle visibly in pain.

Johnson still briefly remained at the ball game, but as he was subbed out with 6:55 left in the period, he went to the dugout to have his ankle checked by the team’s medical staff. Despite willing his way to make a return to the match with 3:16 remaining in the first quarter, he was noticeably limping and couldn’t plant his right foot properly.

Ending the night with 6 points in 2-of-4 shooting for 8 minutes of play, The Nets have ultimately deactivated the 28-year-old for the remainder of the ball game during the second frame.

Prayers up for Cam

In his postgame interview, interim head coach Kevin Ollie has confirmed that Johnson indeed sustained an ankle sprain with further details yet to be revealed soon.

“It’s just a right ankle sprain,” Ollie said. “I imagine they’ll evaluate him tonight, but we’ll have more information tomorrow”

Sources note that Johnson left the Nets’ locker room with a noticeable limp. The forward himself revealed that he’ll undergo imaging to determine the severity of his ankle issue, according to New York Post’s Brian Lewis.

In the wake of the team’s injury bugs, the entire Nets World has their fingers crossed that Cam’s ankle injury didn’t end up severe and that the wingman will ultimately become healthy and available as soon as possible.
