The trade deadline is when NBA teams partake in roster chaos because of how many players move across the league. Rumors are always flying around, which can mess up anyone’s psyche when they see it on their social media feeds.

Since the Brooklyn Nets are involved in multiple trade rumors, Coach Jacque Vaughn addressed potential trades in locker-room discussions. He wanted to be transparent because the NBA can be a ruthless business.

“I acknowledged it to the group, in all honesty. I just like being transparent, and I told these guys this is the nature of our business. For some guys, it's going to be harder, just because either they haven't been traded or they're not used to their names being in rumors,” JV said right after the Nets’ game against Minnesota.

“That's the world we live in. There's so many sites that you can go on, you got your phone with you 24/7.”

Trade season is tough for the players

While some players welcome the trades they’re involved in, there are plenty of examples across the league’s history that players get suddenly plucked out of the team. The most infamous example was Harrison Barnes getting traded mid-game back in 2019.

Trades can put unreal pressure on a player because they have to move to another city where they’ll have to press the restart button. The players must look for another home and adapt to a new environment.

Most of the time, players do not have a "No Trade Clause," which could prevent them from going to a team they don’t like. That means almost every NBA player does not control their destination, while the team’s front office has complete control.

A good move by Coach Vaughn

This was a healthy decision by Coach JV, knowing that most of the Nets roster is unfamiliar with trades. He treats them like human beings and not just assets, which the players will appreciate.

It is a good heads-up, given the Nets are ready to be active in the next few weeks. Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O’Neale, and Spencer Dinwiddie have all been part of trade rumors, but the players are prepared for a move, given Coach Vaughn’s encouragement.

Ben Simmons' return to the Brooklyn Nets lineup is imminent
