Kevin Durant echoes GM Sean Marks statement that Nets don't expect him to play this year

Reporters flocked to Nets media day with the hopes of getting the latest update on Kevin Durant's recovery from an Achilles injuries, but instead found no further update on the injured superstar.
Speaking at the podium for the first time in front of the New York and New Jersey media, Durant essentially referred all questions about his status to general manager Sean Marks.
"Sean and [I] have been in contact from day one. Any time he comes up and says something, then I'm going to say the same thing."
The Nets are taking a wait and see approach with the injured star and don't want to risk him coming back too early. It's a smart tactic to refer to the general manager as reporters will look to dig for information day in and day out on any type of timeline for Durant's return.
In reality, Kyrie Irving and the rest of his Nets teammates aren't expecting Durant back and won't be pressuring him to return early. Irving even admitted during his press conference that his good friend came back too early in the NBA finals.
"We all knew he wasn't ready to play in that environment, noted Irving of Durant's return to Game 5 of the Finals last year.
So as far as any breaking injury news on Durant, that wasn't happening at Nets Media day. Today was a day to introduce the new squad and goals for this year's team.
One interesting tidbit came out when Durant was asked about the abysmal result of team USA this year, a squad that was devoid of a lot of superstar players.
"I wasn't surprised," said Durant of Team USA not medaling. " A lot of those guys are young and still learning the international game."
While Durant will serve as a mentor and coach to his younger teammates, fans and the media will have to wait a long while until receiving any type of update on his potential return to the court.
