Nets newly signed SF Lance Thomas admits he's 'still a Knicks fan at heart'

It's not exactly what Nets fans want to hear, but former Knick Lance Thomas spoke from his heart. The 31-year old shooting forward is making the jump across the Hudson River, but his initial interview with reporters made it seem like he left his heart at MSG.
"I’m still a Knicks fan at heart," Thomas said. "Can't help that. My family is still going to be Knicks fans regardless. If you're from the area and you're a Knicks fan, you’re a Knicks fan for life. Through the good times and the bad. It’s only a matter of time before they turn things around."
Admittedly this is strange coming from a player whose focus should be on improving his current team. The Nets and Knicks don't exactly have a warm and fuzzy relationship although both franchises have seldom been good at the same time, which makes for a strange inter-city rivalry.
Most of the questions to Thomas centered around his time with the Knicks, since his first time putting on a Nets uniform was at the team's annual media day.
"I had goosebumps everyday I wore that uniform," Thomas said of his time with the Knicks. "It’s always going to be something where I really regret not winning in that uniform. Just being a local kid. Every time I wore it, I wore it with pride. And as somebody who might not be from the area, they wouldn’t understand how it felt every single day what it was like to wear that uniform. So I think one of my biggest regrets was not winning anything of substance in a Knicks uniform."
So while Thomas will likely fill in for the suspended Wilson Chandler as part of the rotation at small forward, he'll need to keep his head focused on the present and not the past to keep pushing forward.
