The takeaways from Brooklyn's meaningful victory against Atlanta

In this story:
The Nets got two landmark wins for the Play-In Tournament race, as Brooklyn got a second-straight win against rivals Atlanta Hawks. It is a fantastic result for interim head coach Kevin Ollie and his team because it helps them catch up to the Hawks.
With only two games separating Brooklyn and Atlanta, these wins are strides in the right direction for the former. The Nets dominated the first leg, and the second game showed Brooklyn’s resilience against a competitive Hawks team.
Brooklyn’s two wins proved the team can make it into the Playoffs, especially against a Hawks team without Trae Young. Here are some of the best takeaways from the results.

Brooklyn must keep taking care of the ball
The Nets took care of the ball in both games, as they only had 19 turnovers in total. That is a tremendous number because it’s proof that Brooklyn wins more games when the players take care of the ball.
The lack of turnovers coincided with Brooklyn’s playmaking, as the team got 58 total assists during the mini-series against Atlanta. Dennis Schroder was instrumental, given he led the team with 7.5 assists across two games.

Coach Kevin Ollie was pleased with the team’s stability, as the players were careful with their ball-handling and passing.
“Another thing, we stopped turning the ball over, I think we had five turnovers early and we stopped turning the ball over. The recipe is low turnovers, and when we do that, we have high assists, and no dead possessions… They just played, and they just hunted. It was just great to see them hunt like that,” Ollie said after the game.
Mikal’s scoring elevates Brooklyn
Mikal Bridges had 38 points to lead the Nets in scoring, which was crucial to the result. The team looks more confident whenever the former Villanova Wildcat is firing on all cylinders.
His top-tier performances create space for the rest of the team to deliver, as evidenced by Cameron Johnson still having a 23-point game after his 29-point explosion in the previous Brooklyn vs Atlanta game on Thursday.

The Nets have the right energy at the moment
Brooklyn is finally finding their stride under Coach Ollie, which is good news for the team. The locker room has good vibes after the two wins, and they can carry this momentum over to the next few games.
A lot of yelling, clapping, and music coming from the Nets locker room.
