What we learned from the Brooklyn Nets ending their losing streak with a win against Memphis

In this story:
Coach Kevin Ollie got his first win as Brooklyn’s interim head coach with a massive victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Nets won the game 111 to 86, a fantastic performance from the team’s first possession.
Everyone stood out for Brooklyn, as seven players scored in double digits. Dennis Schroder was the leading scorer, but the rest of the team played with the positive energy Coach Ollie wanted to see, which led to a monumental result for the Nets organization.
It was a fantastic game for Brooklyn, leading to some vital takeaways.

The Nets are finding their rhythm
While there were no scoring outbursts from any Nets player, this was a rock-solid team performance from the Brooklyn roster. The team bounced back from a miserable game against the Timberwolves by coming into this game brimming with confidence.
Schroder addressed this in Monday’s shootaround, as he wanted the team to show more confidence with shooting and building better rhythm. Defensively, Brooklyn also held the Grizzlies to 86 points, with Jaren Jackson Jr. only scoring 15.
“We’ve got to play with more force. I like our open threes; we’ve got to shoot it with confidence. We’ve got to play for each other and get the best shot possible every single possession,” Schroder told the New York Post’s Brian Lewis.
Cam Thomas continues to improve as a playmaker
Schroder led the Nets in assists with five, tied for the team-high with Cameron Thomas. The 22-year-old cemented himself as a reliable playmaker for Brooklyn. It is further evolution for the former LSU Tiger, as his playmaking continues to improve, and he becomes a solid threat offensively with both scoring and passing.
Unfortunately, Cam left the game early after rolling his right ankle, but said he was doing fine. He will be a question mark for the second night of a back-to-back, but this game was a step in the right direction for his evolution as a well-rounded player.

Ollie is building a good locker room
Coach Ollie celebrated his first win and got a celebratory bath from the players. His relationship with the Nets locker room is a good sign for Brooklyn’s future because this vibe around the team will lead to great things.
Ollie was all smiles in his post-game interview, but he’s aware of the weight he’s carrying as the Nets’ head coach. He wants to succeed with the Nets as they aim for a spot in the postseason.
