PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns approach Wednesday's contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers as the West's No. 8 seed after Tuesday night's outcomes:

NBA Western Conference Standings

  1. Denver Nuggets (53-23)
  2. Minnesota Timberwolves (52-23, 0.5 games back)
  3. Oklahoma City Thunder (52-23, 0.5 games back)
  4. Los Angeles Clippers (47-28, 5.5 games back)
  5. Dallas Mavericks (45-30, 7.5 games back)
  6. New Orleans Pelicans (45-30, 7.5 games back)
  7. Sacramento Kings (44-31, 8.5 games back)
  8. Phoenix Suns (44-31, 8.5 games back)
  9. Los Angeles Lakers (43-33, 10 games back)
  10. Golden State Warriors (41-34, 11.5 games back)

Denver, Minnesota and Oklahoma City have already clinched postseason spots. The Houston Rockets are the only other team out West still eligible for the playoffs and are three games back from Golden State at No. 11.

The Kings defeated the Clippers on Tuesday to climb level with Phoenix, who temporarily held the No. 7 spot before being level with Sacramento. The two sides will meet once more later in the season.

The Suns play host to the Cavaliers today, who are facing the second night of a back-to-back after playing Utah last night. Cleveland is currently the No. 3 team in the East. Grayson Allen is questionable with hip soreness for Phoenix.

ESPN's analytics gives Phoenix a 72% chance to make the play-in tournament (seeded 7-10) and a 78% chance to make the playoffs (top six seed).

After tonight, the Suns will have six more games in the regular season.
