Jalen Duren Misses Detroit Pistons’ Loss vs. Brooklyn Nets

Jalen Duren didn't make it out for the Detroit Pistons' loss against the Brooklyn Nets.

Heading into their Saturday night matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, the Detroit Pistons anticipated potentially having Jalen Duren on board in the starting five.

Unfortunately, the young veteran was ruled out before the game tipped off. According to the Pistons’ injury report, Duren was out due to a sprained left ankle. As a result, the Pistons offered the start to the veteran center, James Wiseman.

In 26 minutes of action, Wiseman had a quiet night. He accounted for five rebounds on the glass. On the other end, Wiseman scored four points.

For the Pistons, most of their scoring came from the veteran forward, Chimezie Mets, who produced 20 points in 43 minutes of action.

Once again, a undermanned Detroit team didn’t have any answers for their competition. Taking on the Brooklyn Nets, the Pistons fell short with a ten-point loss. They dropped to 13-65 on the year, keeping them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Pistons head coach Monty Williams didn’t seem overly concerned with Duren’s recent setback. Considering the team viewed him as questionable to play initially, that could signal Duren’s absence is a one-time occasion.

The next time the Pistons take the floor will be on Tuesday, when they pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers. Duren’s status for that game is currently unknown.

This season, Duren has appeared in 59 games for Detroit. He spent nearly 30 minutes on the court per outing. With an increase in playing time during his sophomore effort, Duren averaged 13 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block, marking career-highs across the board.

While the Pistons have a lot of questions moving forward after another disappointing season, they seem optimistic about their future with Duren in the frontcourt.
