Following the Detroit Pistons’ loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night, the team made a roster move after agreeing to a buyout with the veteran guard Shake Milton.

By waiving Milton, the veteran keeps his playoff eligibility. Therefore, Milton would hit the open market and search for a team that’s headed to the postseason this year.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Milton’s next team will be the New York Knicks. That marks the third new roster Milton will join this season.

Over the summer, Milton hit the free agency market for the first time in his career. On the opening day of free agency, Milton signed a deal to join the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although he garnered a steady role off the bench, he was a trade prospect near the deadline.

On February 7, Milton was traded along with Troy Brown Jr. and draft compensation in exchange for Detroit’s Monte Morris. Milton wrapped up a 38-game run with the Wolves, where he averaged five points while shooting 40 percent from the field.

Milton suited up for the Pistons right away, making appearances in his first four games with the squad. Then, for the next four games, he registered DNPs before reaching a buyout. Milton left the Pistons after averaging seven points on 42 percent shooting from the field.

After spending one day in free agency, Milton is on the path to joining the Knicks, giving help to a team that’s dealing with a handful of injuries. The veteran goes from a 9-50 Pistons team to a 35-25 Knicks team that’s placed fourth in the Eastern Conference.
