Detroit Pistons Looking For Regular Season Sweep Over Minnesota Timberwolves

In this story:
The Detroit Pistons are on the cusp of clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference entering Thursday night’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Two more wins are all the Pistons need to clinch the No. 1 seed for the first time since the 2006-07 season, and they look to reach one step closer with a home win over the Timberwolves on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena.
The Pistons and the Timberwolves met on Saturday in Minneapolis, a game in which Detroit won convincingly, 109-87. Now Detroit will look to complete the regular-season sweep over a Timberwolves squad that is currently the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, posting a 46-29 overall record.
Since the Pistons and Timberwolves last met on Saturday, Detroit has gone 1-1 with an overtime loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder and a win over the Toronto Raptors. The Timberwolves defeated the Dallas Mavericks on the road, 124-94, on Monday.
Pistons Aim For Regular Season Sweep Against Timberwolves

While the Pistons will be without Cade Cunningham for their ninth consecutive game, Anthony Edwards is questionable (knee) for Thursday night’s matchup against Detroit, as he didn’t play in last Saturday’s game between the two teams.
Edwards returned to the Timberwolves lineup in Monday’s win over the Mavericks. In his return, Edwards scored 17 points, four assists, and two rebounds, on 7-of-11 shooting from the field in 23 minutes played.
Despite being the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, Edwards looks to fuel the Timberwolves to another deep postseason run, as he is having another remarkable season for Minnesota. Edwards is third in the NBA in scoring, averaging 29.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
Pistons Eyeing 60 Regular Season Wins

Not only are the Pistons close to clinching their first No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference in 20 years, but they are five wins away from securing a 60-win regular season, as they currently stand at 55-21 overall.
The last time the Pistons recorded 60 wins in a season was in the 2005-06 NBA season, when they fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games. The Heat would go on to win the NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks that season.
In the Pistons' matchup against the Timberwolves on Saturday, seven players scored in double figures for Detroit. The Pistons will aim to build off that same team chemistry to secure the regular-season sweep over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The tip-off between the Pistons and Timberwolves is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET from Little Caesars Arena, with the game broadcast on Prime Video.
