The Detroit Pistons are set to bring an experienced center on a 10-day contract this week.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pistons are set to acquire the services of the veteran center Taj Gibson.

The former first-round pick out of USC has been around the league since 2009, When he first entered the NBA, Gibson spent a large chunk of his career playing with the Chicago Bulls

Making 562 appearances across eight seasons, Gibson averaged nine points and six rebounds throughout the first stretch of his career.

In February of 2017, Gibson found a new team for the first time. After getting traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Gibson appeared in 23 games out in OKC to finish out the 2016-2017 season.

During the next offseason, Gibson would hit the free agency market, where he found an opportunity to sign on with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Gibson’s run with the Wolves would last two seasons. Then in 2019, he signed with the New York Knicks.

Gibson had two different stints with the Knicks since initially joining them. Last year, he sprinkled in 49 games with the Washington Wizards.

A few months back, Gibson appeared in 16 games with the Knicks during his second stint with the team. He was waived by New York on January 7. Although he inked two 10-day deals with the Knicks a couple of months ago, they would not offer him a contract beyond that.

This season, Gibson came off the bench for 15 of his 16 games with the Knicks. He averaged ten minutes on the court, producing one point and two rebounds per game.
