The New York Knicks have officially acquired the veteran guard Shake Milton, the team announced on Tuesday morning.

Just last week, Milton was a member of the Detroit Pistons after landing with the team via trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves

The veteran made his Detroit debut on February 10 against the Los Angeles Clippers. He checked in off the bench for 11 minutes in his first set of action.

Milton maintained a role in the Pistons’ rotation for the next three games. During the Pistons’ February 22 loss against the Indiana Pacers, he appeared on the court for just nine minutes. It turned out to be his final set of action as a member of the Pistons.

Over the next four-game stretch, the Pistons kept Milton on the bench as he collected DNPs. Last Friday when the Pistons wrapped up their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was reported that Milton and the Pistons agreed to a contract buyout.

While Milton could’ve stuck around in Detroit, carving out a role in their rotation, the veteran guard was on the hunt to join a contender after spending time with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Timberwolves over the years.

Lately, the Pistons have cut ties with some of their veteran acquisitions. After landing Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala from the Washington Wizards, they hit the free agency market weeks after spending some time with the Pistons.

Milton will look to help an injury-riddled playoff contender out in New York. After clearing waivers and officially signing with the Knicks, Milton is expected to be available for New York’s matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, according to SNY
