'Big Brother' Kyrie Irving Proud of Houston Rockets' Jalen Green

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving had nothing but nice things to say about Houston Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green.

Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green has been on a tear as of late, and he's starting to garner attention from others around the league.

Despite a poor performance in Sunday's loss against the Dallas Mavericks, Green has earned the respect from eight-time All-Star Kyrie Irving.

“The maturity he has shown over these past two months are tremendous and I am nothing short of proud of him as a big brother," Irving said postgame.

Green has had an up-and-down year as he adjusts to playing under coach Ime Udoka. In his first two years with Stephen Silas, Green had fewer expectations and was often the lead guard in the offense.

This year, his role has evolved and he's had to learn how to play alongside Fred VanVleet. But in the month of March, things began to click for Green.

Throughout the Rockets' 11-game win streak, Green has been one of the best players in the NBA, averaging 30.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and a blistering 45.0 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

The individual success during the win streak can be used for Green to eventually move into a bigger role for the team. The scary part of Green's success is that he's only 22 years old and he has a lot more growing to do. If he continues along this trajectory over the next few years, he can emerge into one of the league's best guards.

Green and the Rockets are back in action tomorrow night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
