HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets will open the 2023 NBA Summer League tournament on Thursday, July 7 against Scoot Henderson and the Portland Trail Blazers in Las Vegas.

The summer league contest inside the Thomas & Mack Center will mark the first of five games for the Rockets during the league's annual tournament.

Following their opening night contest against the Trail Blazers, the Rockets will then take on the Detroit Pistons (July 9), Oklahoma City Thunder (July 11), and Golden State Warriors (July 13).

The Rockets have yet to announce which players will take part in the tournament. But Houston's summer league roster will be highlighted by Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore, who the Rockets acquired during the 2023 NBA Draft.

Thompson versus Henderson will make for a superior battle. But the Rockets' most anticipated game will take place two days later against the Pistons. Thompson will have the chance to square off against his twin brother Ausar for the first time on an NBA court.

During his introductory press conference on Friday, Ausar jokingly said he wanted to "kill" his brother Amen during their summer league battle when learning of the schedule.

Last year, the Rockets finished the summer league tournament with a 2-3 record. Josh Christopher led the Rockets in scoring averaging 19.7 points on 40.0 percent shooting from the field.
