The San Antonio Spurs will likely have a new point guard to build around next season.

With Tre Jones facing free agency, there is potential for the Spurs to shake things up on the open market this summer. On top of that, the Spurs have cap space to spend top dollar on the league's key free agents, including Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell.

Russell has played for the Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves throughout his seven-year career. In February, the Wolves traded Russell back to the team that drafted him No. 2 overall in 2015 ... the Lakers. But as an unrestricted free agent this summer, Russell could look to add to his NBA globetrotting tour in San Antonio with the Spurs.

"Most of the teams that could use him can't afford him. The teams with money that may need a point guard include the Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz," Bleacher Report writes.

Russell would certainly be a welcomed addition to the Spurs and could provide a stronger solution at point guard. He is averaging 17.8 points and 6.2 assists with the Wolves and Lakers this year. While the Spurs may opt for a younger option currently on the roster like Malaki Branham or a rookie in the upcoming draft like Scoot Henderson, having a veteran who can run the offense while also playing off-ball would be incredibly valuable for San Antonio.
