Spurs Fall vs. Mavericks in Final Game Before Break

In this story:
The San Antonio Spurs are going into the All-Star Break on the wrong foot after a 116-93 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night inside the American Airlines Center.
While the Spurs held a lead in the first quarter, it vanished in the second after the Mavericks' offense started heating up. Dallas was able to erase their deficit and go into the locker room with a five-point lead.
The adjustments the Spurs made weren't enough as they were outscored in the third quarter by 18 points. By the fourth quarter, the Spurs found themselves in a hole they could not dig out of.
Despite the team's struggles, No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama had a strong night, scoring a team-high 26 points. On the flip side, Keldon Johnson struggled mightily, making just one of his 11 shots and ending the night with a -27.
For the Mavs, Kyrie Irving led the way with 34 points of his own. Luka Doncic complemented him with 27 points.
