LOOK: Spurs Officially Rename Arena to 'Frost Bank Center'

The partnership between the Spurs and Frost Bank isn't something completely new to the team or the city, but it's likely beginning to feel more real for fans, as the arena is set to "change signage" and logos prior to the start of this season.

In a city known for its culture, the San Antonio Spurs are set to introduce a new part of that to their fans, beginning with their arena.

After a few weeks of working with their new naming partner, the Spurs are officially set play home games in "Frost Bank Center," which will take the place of the AT&T Center.

San Antonio officially announced its new partnership with Frost Bank in early August, marking the end of a 21-year partnership with AT&T for the name rights of its arena, but the deal wasn't entirely new. Frost and the Spurs had been partnered perviously for the team's mandated sponsor patch before Self took over.

That, along with the city skyline featuring the Frost Bank tower make for a new, but familiar new name for the Spurs arena — which will now begin to reflect its new name.

"The Spurs will begin work this month to update arena signage within and outside the Frost Bank Center, including marquee signage, ticket towers, center court jumbotron and other marketing materials," the team said via press release. "The majority of these in-arena and outside signage changes will be made before the start of the season."

So, as iconic as the AT&T Center had become to Spurs fans, the era of the Spurs and AT&T is coming to an end, but that doesn't mean that San Antonio basketball is any less important to the city, or its culture. It'll just look slightly different.

The Frost Bank Center logo will be seen on the team's core and City Edition courts, with the first reveal of the court taking place at the Silver & Black Open Scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Two days later, the Spurs will play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder for their first game of the preseason. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
