The San Antonio Spurs are 11-44 heading into the All-Star Break, good enough for a .200 winning percentage.

The Spurs are often coming into games as underdogs given the team's lack of talent compared to their counterparts. This was proven in their 116-93 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Despite holding a lead in the first quarter, the Spurs let it slip through their fingers.

"Even in the start of the second quarter, we had a decent lead in the first (quarter)," Victor Wembanyama said. "Making shots, shot making, we weren't good tonight. It happens. Also, against these type of players - Luka (Doncic) and Kyrie (Irving) - we know we're not going to stop every single possession they have. We have to be relentless."

This means that the Spurs have to play with more of an intensity in order to bridge the gap. It's something they've struggled with all year long, but this is something they can control.

While the Spurs roster may not be able to determine who they play against, they can affect how they choose to play the game. If they play with maximum effort against an opponent, they may pull out a win if the other team is having an off night. However, if they don't bring the energy, they have no shot to win the game.

Spurs Fall vs. Mavs in Final Game Before Break

The Spurs are off for a week before returning to the floor on Thursday, Feb. 22 against the Sacramento Kings. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.
