Former Suns F Mikal Bridges Could be Traded (Again)

Former Phoenix Suns forward Mikal Bridges continues to be brought up in trade rumors despite outstanding season.

Former Phoenix Suns forward Mikal Bridges may have played outstanding for the Brooklyn Nets through his brief time with the organization, but the former fan favorite here in the Valley is still being subjected to trade rumors.

Since being traded to the Nets in February, Bridges has averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Bridges is now widely considered as an All-Star caliber player so it makes sense that teams are interested in his services. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report argues that the Memphis Grizzlies could use a guy like Bridges.

“It might take four first-rounders to get the job done, but the Memphis Grizzlies have the assets to start a conversation with the Brooklyn Nets on Mikal Bridges,” Hughes wrote.

“The Nets already added a quartet of the Phoenix Suns’ future first-rounders (plus a swap) in the Kevin Durant deal that brought Bridges to Brooklyn last February, which means they could ultimately claim they dealt KD for eight first-round picks (plus that swap, plus Cam Johnson) if this made-up exchange were to happen.

“Brooklyn would be dealing Bridges close to the peak of his value. He shot the lights out and showed never-before-imagined levels of self-sufficient offense with the Nets. Regression feels imminent, but the Grizzlies shouldn’t care. The Suns version of Bridges would be worth plenty to them, especially with Dillon Brooks’ small forward spot vacated.”

With the uncertainty surrounding Grizzlies star Ja Morant, it would be smart for the Grizzlies to go after Bridges to help keep the team a float and once Morant returns if he is indeed suspended, the two young stars will be one of the most lethal duos in the NBA.

Another idea that was brought up is a potential trade involving the Nets giving up Bridges to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. However, The Athletic’s Alex Schiffer reported that the Nets are not interested in trading Bridges to the Trail Blazers.

In an article from the SportsNaut’s Vincent Frank, he listed the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves as three potential teams that make sense in a trade for Bridges.

While Bridges is being brought up in some trade rumors, don't expect Brooklyn to trade the 26-year-old rising star any time soon.
