Anonymous NBA Exec Says Suns Would be Good fit for Kemba Walker

The Phoenix Suns make perfect sense for Kemba Walker, according to one anonymous league exec who spoke with Heavy.com.

The Phoenix Suns have accomplished their goal of keeping the band together this offseason, although moving parts such as JaVale McGee and Aaron Holiday departed in free agency.

The core of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton is set to once again take the floor in Phoenix when the 2022-23 regular season gets underway barring a blockbuster trade for a certain scoring option in Brooklyn (no, not Patty Mills).

However, the Suns still need to bolster their roster (more specifically their scoring depth) in order to make the climb to western conference champions.

One anonymous NBA executive told Heavy.com's Sean Deveney that Kemba Walker might be of some assistance in Phoenix

Anonymous NBA Exec Says Suns Would be Good fit for Kemba Walker

“He [Walker] was the Plan B for the Clippers but they went and got John Wall so now he’s got to figure out something else,” the executive told Deveney.

“There was talk about him going to Charlotte, and that would be a good story for a team that might need one with the (Miles) Bridges stuff. But if he wants to play for a contender, he’s probably best off looking at Phoenix. They need another point guard, they need depth behind Paul. Give him a non-guaranteed deal and see how it goes, you can still make a change in January.”

Walker was the No. 9 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, spending eight years with Charlotte before landing in Boston and New York. Most recently, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons this offseason but is expected to be bought out of his contract.

Walker has dealt with injury problems through his career, yet when he's healthy, the talent is very much still there.

Would Phoenix be willing to roll the dice on his availability?

In a vacuum, Walker would be a strong presence for the Suns to supplement scoring behind Booker, or run the offense when Paul is resting.

Yet the best ability is availability, and that's something Walker hasn't provided on a consistent basis in recent memory. The four-time NBA All-Star hasn't played more than 56 games in a season since 2018-19.

Walker just turned 32-years-old in May.
