Damian Lillard Takes Shot at Kevin Durant?

Dame said he would have never gone to the Golden State Warriors if he was Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant only recently became a member of the Phoenix Suns when the team acquired him at the trade deadline last season, though the Valley has already embraced and welcomed him as one of their own.

Durant - one of the best players to ever play in the NBA - was landed in a massive deal from the Brooklyn Nets, though prior to that he joined a stacked Golden State Warriors team that won two championships during his time with the organization.

With Golden State already having names such as Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Durant jumping ship to a powerhouse drew criticism that is hard to be matched in the scope of professional basketball history.

Some of that criticism might have been deflected from Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, who recently appeared on the "It is What it Is" podcast and made the following statement:

"As far as Golden State, I respect what they've been doing the last eight or nine years; and I'm from there, but I can't go be a part of that," Lillard said (h/t Sportskeeda).

"They won four championships. What I look like if I did that? They'd say, 'I'm joining my home team.' To me, that don't even make sense. I'd never do nothing like that. I'd lose every year before I go."

"I've said this plenty of times before," Lillard added, "KD is obviously one of the greatest players of all time, but if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't have done that personally. That ain't something that I would've did, but I think you got to do what you got to do."

Lillard requested a trade from Portland after they've failed to build a championship squad around him, so certainly interesting comments to say the least.
