Devin Booker Named to All-NBA First Team
The 2021-22 season didn't end in a championship for Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker, but a tremendous campaign from the Kentucky product didn't go unnoticed.
Booker was named as a first team All-NBA player on Tuesday.
Last season, Booker played 68 games and averaged a career-high 26.8 points per game. He also saw a career-high in rebounds per contest (5) with 4.8 assists as well.
Booker played a major role in the Suns reaching new franchise records, including regular season wins (64) and the following accomplishments (via NBA.com):
- The Suns earned the number one overall seed throughout the postseason with the league’s best record. This is the third time in franchise history that the Suns have finished with the NBA’s best record.
- The 2021-22 Suns are the first team in 22 years and just the fifth team since the NBA-ABA merger to finish at least eight games up over the league’s second-best record.
- The Suns are the first team in NBA history to increase its win total by at least 13 wins in each of three consecutive seasons.
- The Suns set a franchise record with 32 road wins this season, surpassing the previous mark of 31 road wins set by the 2004-05 team.
- According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Suns are just the second team in NBA history to finish with a better road record than any other team’s home record along with the 1969-70 New York Knicks.
- The Suns were also the first team in NBA history with multiple unbeaten months (min. eight games) on the road in the same season.
This is the first time Booker has finished on an All-NBA team. He earned All-Rookie first team honors in 2016 and has made the All-Star game the last three seasons. Booker also finished fourth in the NBA's MVP voting for this season.
With his inclusion, Booker is now eligible for a four-year, $211 million extension that would kick before the 2024-25 season.
