Insider Refutes Two Suns Trade Rumors

Phoenix Suns insider John Gambadoro is pumping the brakes on any Kyle Lowry talk.

Just when we thought the Phoenix Suns were done shuffling their roster after a long summer, the organization laughed and helped facilitate a trade that saw Damian Lillard head to Milwaukee and Deandre Ayton pack his bags to Portland.

In return, Phoenix saw four new names arrive to the Valley in Jusuf Nurkic, Keon Johnson, Grayson Allen and Nassir Little.

Even ahead of the team's Oct. 2 Media Day, the Suns may still look to add more talent.

TNT/Bleacher Report NBA reporter Chris Haynes said Phoenix had interest in Kyle Lowry.

“I was told that Phoenix was very interested in Kyle Lowry. I think that’s why Dame always held out hope that Portland at last minute would go back to Miami with some potential offer on the table. Something that would send Lowry to Phoenix…It just never panned out”

Arizona Sports insider John Gambadoro said that simply wasn't true:

"Oh geez there is absolutely no truth to this. Have gotten a ton of asks about it so will respond here. The Suns had no interest in Kyle Lowry and were totally focused on Nurkic and the surrounding pieces in the trade. We even mentioned the Nurkic possibility over a week ago."

Yahoo!'s Jake Fischer said the Suns are also interested in TJ McConnell:

"The Phoenix Suns made a move to improve their depth, when they added Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen and Nassir Little this week. But Phoenix isn't done tinkering with their roster. The Suns remain interested in trading for Indiana Pacers point guard T.J. McConnell. Phoenix has Jordan Goodwin as the only pure point guard on their roster right now, and seemingly wants more depth at that position."

Gambo said Phoenix indeed liked him but couldn't see a deal unfolding.

Where there's some - there's fire, so perhaps there's validity in Phoenix exploring more outside options. Yet Gambadoro has been fairly accurate in his reporting - more so than most, and thus his words carry more weight.
