Utah Jazz Request Permission to Interview Phoenix Suns Coach Kevin Young

The Phoenix Suns may lose an assistant coach after the Jazz requested to interview Kevin Young.

After Quin Snyder stepped down from his position as head coach, the Utah Jazz have already begun the process to find their next man in charge. 

One of those coaches that will get a turn in interviews is Phoenix Suns assistant coach Kevin Young. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Utah requested permission to interview Young. 

Young, who is set to turn 41-years-old this year, has been with the Suns for the past two seasons as an assistant coach. He got his first gig in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers (2017-20) and spent nearly a decade coaching in the NBA's G League prior. 

ESPN's Kevin Arnovitz placed Young on his NBA coaching prospects list earlier in May, offering this on the Suns' assistant:

"If it's alignment you're looking for, Suns associate head coach Kevin Young is a natural fit. Both the Suns' basketball ops crew and head coach Monty Williams regard Young as an essential hub to share ideas across the organization. It's a logical role for a young coach who excels at both listening and communicating. Young served as a head coach in the G League for six seasons, which gave him a foundation as an organizer and big-picture thinker. He has earned the respect of players with his work ethic and candor. He was a finalist for the Washington job last spring, where his sharpness impressed."

Young will be interviewing for the Utah job along with Toronto's Adrian Griffin, Miami Heat's Chris Quinn and others.
