OKC Thunder Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Ruled OUT Against Houston Rockets

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been ruled out with a quad injury ahead of Wednesday's game against the Houston Rockets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (50-21) welcome in the Houston Rockets (36-35) on the second night of a back-to-back. This starts a two-game home stand for the Thunder, who will be short-handed against the surging Rockets.

Following Tuesday's win over New Orleans, Mark Daigneault revealed the Thunder superstar is not 100 percent.

“He’s banged up, for sure. He’s not 100%. We’re monitoring it, but he’s certainly not a hundred percent. I’ll let him speak on it," the Thunder bench boss said.

When Gilgeous-Alexander took the podium he revealed he is dealing with a quad injury that he suffered against the Utah Jazz. While the Thunder superstar played through the injury the past three games, he mentioned he is taking it "Day by Day."

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced the MVP candidate will be sidelined against the Rockets. Houston comes in riding a nine-game winning streak and just a game back of the Golden State Warriors for the final Play-In Tournament spot.

This marks just the second missed game from the OKC Thunder star. Typically, Mark Daigneault has used rookie Cason Wallace to plug into the starting five, a trend that might continue against Houston.

With a grueling stretch of games to close the regular season that sees two more back-to-back sets and no more than one off day between games, Gilgeous-Alexander will now get added rest as his teammates try to pick up a home win against the hottest team in basketball.

Up next, the Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Phoenix Suns on Friday in the Paycom Center.
