OKC Thunder's Chet Holmgren: 'So Much Talent On Our Team'

In this story:
Oklahoma City Thunder rookie center Chet Holmgren joined the ALL THE SMOKE podcast, where he was able to speak ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
On the podcast, Holmgren was asked which of his teammates he thinks is due for a breakout season. His response?
"We just got so much talent on our team," Holmgren said. "It's gonna be like a new guy every single game. ... We got dudes."
The Thunder, heading into next season, have a deep pool of talent. There's a reason there's the Twitter discourse on the team having "too much talent."
Each night, the Thunder could see a new player score 20 or more points to co-exist with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's consistent big nights. Or, if Gilgeous-Alexander has an off night, there are three or so guys capable of filling in that top-scoring option role.
He was also asked about Gilgeous-Alexander directly, who earned All-NBA First Team honors last season as well as making the All-Star team for the first time.
"You see what's so special about him on the court when he picks that ball up," Holmgren said. "If you didn't see all the highlights and the Instagram followers and all that stuff, if you were just around him every day and didn't know about all that, you'd think he's a regular person."
As Holmgren explains Gilgeous-Alexander's attitude, he's more than capable of being the top dog on the team while acting the same as everyone else. This will benefit the young team's development as his humble attitude won't block any of the young guys from taking the shine when needed.
The team's selfless attitude and everyone wanting each other to succeed is why the Thunder are able to manage the plethora of young talent they've got. The team is about and for each other and this will raise their ceiling as a group exponentially, and this is a great reason why they've been able to turn so many heads so early.
