The Bucks and Lakers remain at the top in SI’s weekly NBA Power Rankings. In homage to Kobe Bryant, SI will pay close attention to teams ranked eighth and 24th. The Charlotte Hornets, the team that originally drafted Kobe, check in at number 24. Owned by Michael Jordan, the player Kobe crafted his game after, the Hornets are stuck in the same doldrums they’ve been since trading Kobe to the Lakers. The Miami Heat sit at number eight, who are run by another Lakers legend, Pat Riley. The Heat are a surprise team this year as they sit in the second seed in the Eastern Conference and are making noise as a legit contender.
