A camera operator is in a medically induced coma after filming in the Utah Jazz locker room after a March 7 game against the Detroit Pistons, just four days before the NBA suspended operations because of the coronavirus pandemic. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 according to Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel and Vincent Goodwill. He is 50 years old and served as part of several NBA broadcasts for local news at Little Caesars Arena. A close friend told Yahoo that the man started feeling ill about a week after the game and was taken to the hospital on March 18 when his symptoms worsened. At this time, there over 68,000 cases of COVID-19 in the United States alone, with over 1,000 confirmed dead.
