All-Star Guard Named as Possible Warriors Trade Target

This former All-Star was named as a possible Golden State Warriors trade target

As the Golden State Warriors continue to look far from a serious championship contender, it has become increasingly clear that a trade is coming. Such a trade presumes to not only bolster Golden State's top-end talent, but also address some of their current roster imbalances.

During a recent episode of the Warriors Plus Minus podcast, The Athletic's Anthony Slater spoke on this upcoming trade deadline for the Warriors, and dropped one unexpected name as someone to monitor.

"People talk about Atlanta, well Atlanta is kinda reverting into more rebuild mode, so they might trade Dejounte Murray - by the way, who is another name. I know he's more of a guard, but that's a name to at least monitor on the Warriors front," Slater said.

Slater also addressed the Pascal Siakam situation on this podcast, saying, "On the Siakam front, [the Warriors] have been involved in the conversation - they've talked to Toronto. Not only have they talked to Toronto, Masai Ujiri and Mike Dunleavy probably had a 20 minute conversation in the tunnel the other night... I saw [Ujiri] talk to several members of the Warriors front office at various points. Whatever that means, that means. But I do know the Siakam thing, clearly - Toronto has a level of motivation to get something done before the deadline. It seems clear."

While the Siakam news was to be expected, Murray's name was more surprising to hear, as he doesn't seem to fit as well with Golden State's collection of guards. Targeting a high-level wing would seem to be the move for the Warriors, but apparently Murray is still a name to monitor for Golden State.
