Draymond Green to the Lakers Trade Idea Proposed

Does this hypothetical trade between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers make sense?

With Draymond Green suspended indefinitely, the Golden State Warriors are once again forced to play without their defensive anchor and vocal leader. Green has been suspended twice already this season, and his latest suspension has no official end date.

Because of this, some have speculated the Warriors could be growing tired of Green frequently becoming a distraction, which is why Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report put together five hypothetical trades that send Green out of Golden State - including one that lands him with the Los Angeles Lakers for Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes.

"For Golden State, this is another move that provides a little financial flexibility," Bailey wrote. "Hachimura makes less than Green, and his contract ends a year earlier. Jaxson Hayes has a $2.5 million player option for next season."

Bailey also included some basketball reasoning, stating that Hachimura would help Golden State space the floor, while Hayes would give them some much needed size. Whole both of those things are true, Green's impact on the Warriors almost certainly outweighs whatever Hachimura and Hayes could provide.

It's also important to note that Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy went on the record saying the Warriors are committed to Green, even despite this latest incident.

"We're committed to him," Dunleavy said of Green. "He's been here a long time, he's hung a ton of banners and means so much to this organization. Like I said before, I think this about turning this thing into a positive and getting better. So I think if that happens then we feel really good, because his play has been terrific. It's just been his lack of availability that has not been great, and we wanna make that better."
