Dwight Howard's Warriors Comments Resurface After Latest Report

Can Dwight Howard reach a deal with the Golden State Warriors?

It was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that veteran big man Dwight Howard is expected to meet with the Golden State Warriors. After this report came out, Howard's interesting comments about the Warriors from a podcast earlier this summer resurfaced.

During an episode of the My Expert Opinion Show, Howard said, "I don't think [the Warriors] want my style. Not that I can't play or do what is needed. But why would they go get a Dwight Howard when they can go get a young player that maybe has no name, that's not a risk."

Howard added, "Why wouldn't they just get somebody where there's no pressure?... They've got five championships, or four, or three, whatever it is. I'm just looking at both sides of it, I know who I am, I know my talent. From their business side of it, why would they do that on their end?"

What's interesting, is that Howard made these comments prior to the Warriors solidifying their sharp pivot from the failing two-timeline plan that often prioritized unproven youth over veterans like Howard. Now looking to round their roster out with veterans, Howard projects to be a perfect fit for what the Warriors are looking for.

Once feeling that Golden State wouldn't want him, Howard may now be a top option for one of their final roster spots.
