Golden State Warriors Work Out New Player

The Warriors will work out a potential new center.

The Golden State Warriors continue their summer tour of trying out new players. The latest player is Dereck Lively II from Duke.

According to a report from Jason Dumas, the Golden State Warriors will work out Dereck Lively II on Monday.

Lively is a 7-foot-1 center that averaged 5.2 points and 5.4 rebounds on 66% shooting for Duke last season. His numbers don't particularly jump off the page, but he could be a defensive big that the Warriors could use next season. Lively wouldn't be getting playing time from Looney in any capacity, but Looney could be a fantastic mentor to him in terms of being a defensive anchor.

This off-season, the Warriors have already worked out a slew of players, and will continue to likely work out more. The team is in a very interesting situation where they're caught between running it back, and upgrading. No other championship team in NBA history had the home and road record splits that Golden State did, which only makes analyzing them even more confusing. On some days they legitimately looked like championship contenders, while on other days they didn't even look like a play-in team.

It's going to be a long off-season for the Golden State Warriors, one filled with very tough decisions. It's been said before, but those tough decisions will start at the NBA Draft.
