NBA Legend Shares Harsh Truth for Draymond Green

Draymond Green won't be a member of Team USA.

When Draymond Green was suspended multiple times this season, the consequences extended beyond just the Golden State Warriors. His actions cost him a spot on Team USA, too.

When Team USA revealed its 41-player pool for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, Green's name was named off the list. NBA legend and USA Basketball Men's National Team managing director Grant Hill revealed why during a Zoom call with reporters.

"His contributions have been significant and he is a real part of the legacy of this organization for his excellence," Hill said. "But I think just in lieu of sort of what's transpired this year, we made a decision to not have (Green) on this list with this particular point in time with the process."

Hill's statement isn't one of slander on Draymond, he still wishes all the best for Green. Team USA still respects Green for everything he's done, but they believe playing in Paris won't help in his recovery.

"We all understand and certainly have great respect and sensitivity to this particular period in his career, and he's working through some things both on and off the court," Hill said. "And so we at USA basketball wanted to support him on his journey and we just didn't feel that playing over the summer gives him the best opportunity to do what he needs to do."

Hill's statement could be a euphemism for the fact that Team USA doesn't want to deal with any internal drama, but at the end of the day, it's the cold harsh truth for Draymond Green.
