Warriors Make New Roster Move Before Facing Lakers

The Golden State Warriors have reportedly signed a new two-way player

After promoting Lester Quinones to a standard contract, freeing up a two-way opening, the Golden State Warriors have reportedly signed Pat Spencer to the vacated two-way spot.

The news was announced by Anthony Slater of The Athletic, who wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “The Warriors are signing Pat Spencer to a two-way contract, per sources. He replaces Lester Quinones, who is being promoted to main roster. Spencer has been in GSW program the last two seasons. Playing for Santa Cruz this season. Former college lacrosse superstar.”

Making another internal promotion for this deal, the Warriors have been familiar with Spencer through their G-League team. In 18 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, Spencer has averaged 15.1 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 4.0 APG on 50/43/87 splits. Putting up these numbers in just 27.3 minutes per contest, Spencer has impressed at the G-League level.

The Warriors are set to take on the Los Angeles Lakers in their first game back from the All-Star break on Thursday, which will be the first game Quinones is on the standard roster, and first game Spencer is on the roster as a two-way player. Spencer is of course unlikely to see any playing time, or even be active, but Quinones should continue to see minutes.

Averaging 12.9 minutes per game in 19 appearances at the NBA level this season, Quinones is averaging 4.8 PPG on 39.6% from deep. While he hasn’t played a huge role, there have certainly been moments where Quinones has helped the Warriors win games.
