Warriors Release Statement on Assistant Coach's Unexpected Medical Issue

Dejan Milojevic is unexpectedly in the hospital.

The Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz have postponed their game tonight as tragedy struck the Warriors organization. Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević was unexpectedly hospitalized with what some European and Serbian outlets are reporting was a heart attack.

The Warriors have released an official statement on the situation via Twitter:

"Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević (DAY-hahn mi-lo-yo-vihch) was hospitalized last night in Salt Lake City, Utah, after suffering a medical emergency at a private team dinner. An update on Milojević’s status will be provided as appropriate."

Milojevic has been a member of the Golden State Warriors since the 2021 season and has been with the team for three seasons. At one point before his tenure with the Warriors, Milojevic was also Nikola Jokic's coach. He's a pioneer in Serbian basketball and was equally as respected as a player.

As a player, Milojevic was a member of the All-Europe Second Team, 3x ABA League MVP, 2x Adriatic League Top Scorer, 3x YUBA League Champion, and a one-time Yugoslav Cup Winner.

As a head coach, Milojevic was a Montenegrin League Champion in 2021, Serbian Cup winner in 2016, and a Montenegrin Cup winner in 2021. From both sides of the coin, Milojevic was incredibly accomplished.

We wish all the best for Dejan Milojevic, his friends, and his family around the world.
