Warriors Top Free Agent Target Chooses Rival Team

In this story:
It was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that free agent guard Eric Gordon will be signing with the Phoenix Suns. In an additional report from Anthony Slater of The Athletic, it was revealed that Gordon was the Golden State Warriors' top free agent target at the guard position.
As Slater noted, the Suns can offer Gordon a more defined and substantial role than what Golden State would have for him. With several guards already slotted into their rotation, the Warriors might not have had a large role for Gordon, but it makes sense why they were targeting him after losing Donte DiVincenzo to the New York Knicks.
The Warriors will need to fill DiVincenzo's spot in the rotation either internally or externally, but there does seem to be a possibility that Moses Moody could continue his emergence as one of Steve Kerr's trusted rotation pieces.
Moody was one of Golden State's few rotation staples in their final few playoff games this past postseason, jumping ahead of some previously trusted players. If the Warriors cannot acquire another key piece, then perhaps Moody will be ready for another leap next season.
For the Suns, they get to add a reliable rotation piece at a low cost, which is not always easy when trying to build out a roster around three stars like Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
