BREAKING: Warriors Free Agent Signs With Knicks

In this story:
It was announced by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowksi that Golden State Warriors free agent Donte DiVincenzo has agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract with the New York Knicks. This has been an expected move for a while now, as the Warriors knew they likely could not afford what DiVincenzo would get on the open market.
DiVincenzo was a key role player for Golden State last season, which earned him a contract outside of their range. There was mutual interest between DiVincenzo and the Warriors to continue their partnership, but the financial side of things was just too far apart.
For players like DiVincenzo, maximizing earnings is important. The free agency market can be complicated, and timing can be the difference between a player cashing out on a major pay day, and missing out entirely. For DiVincenzo, the timing lined up nicely for him, and he had to take this deal with the Knicks.
After being on the defending champion Warriors, DiVincenzo should still have an opportunity to compete at a high level next season, as the Knicks expect to be in the playoff picture again after making the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals last year. This also had to contribute to DiVincenzo's decision, as winning is always important, even if the Knicks don't currently project to be a championship contender.
This loss will definitely be felt by the Warriors, as they will have to replace DiVincenzo's spot in the rotation internally or externally.
