Damian Lillard Gets Honest About Kevin Durant Joining Warriors

While it's now been seven years since Kevin Durant decided to join the Golden State Warriors, the move is still being discussed. Recently asked about it during an episode of the It Is What It Is podcast, Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard said he would not have made that move.

"If I'm Kevin Durant, I've said this plenty of times before - I think KD is obviously one of the greatest players of all time, but if I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t have done that, personally," Lillard said. "Like, it's the team that… [you] just lost to, it's a team that has won once."

This seems to be the commonly held opinion on Durant's move to Golden State, because not only did he just lose to them in the Western Conference Finals, but those Warriors were one season removed from a 73-9 finish. Adding Durant made Golden State a truly unstoppable force, which is why many view Durant's championships with the Warriors as less impressive than the titles Steph Curry won without him.

Since leaving the Warriors, Durant has had very little playoff success, which hasn't helped the view of his championships in Golden State. While he will always be a two-time champion and two-rime Finals MVP, Durant's move to the Warriors is something that many will continue to hold against him - for right or for wrong.
