McKinnie last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Prior to that season, McKinnie spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and of course the Warriors. McKinnie appeared in 72 games for Golden State during the 2018-19 season, including 22 postseason games.
With a depleted Warriors roster in the 2019 NBA Finals, McKinnie played in each of those six games. McKinnie's minutes weren't great in that series, but the Warriors were limited on options which ultimately led to their three-peat effort falling short.
Now with a new opportunity with Dinamo Sassari, McKinnie will look to extend his playing career as his time in the NBA looks to be a thing of the past. If McKinnie doesn't make it back to the NBA, he will have tallied 182 career regular season games and 24 career postseason games. The NBA is a difficult league to stick in, but opportunities overseas are often a great option for players like McKinnie who want to continue their professional basketball career.
For Dinamo Sassari, they're getting a former NBA player with some solid experience.
