Kevin Durant Fires Back Against 'Sensitive' Narrative

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant regularly defends himself online, which has led to a "sensitive" narrative that often gets tied to his name. Speaking with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, Durant fired back against that narrative, specifically citing LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Damian Lillard as players who are allowed to speak up without being called sensitive.

"I don't see this talked about — I see Damian Lillard, I see LeBron [James], I see Draymond [Green], I see lots of great players in our league speak up on social media, but they don't get that 'sensitive' rep," Durant said. "But it's just like I've seen it, it's not just a ‘me’ thing, like, there are a lot of players amongst a lot of sports that interact with their people on Twitter, Instagram, socials, and I don't hear the 'sensitive' rep about them."

On why he speaks up so often, Durant said, "If there's something [inaccurate] that's said about me that's being portrayed to the fans, I definitely want to dispute that because you can hear directly from me. On Twitter, it's quick where I can just say, 'Here, this is what I'm thinking in the moment, and then it's over with.' I think it's great for fans to get insight on players."

Durant admitted that his move from Oklahoma City to Golden State in 2016 is still something that contributes to people wanting to silence him; however, he cannot pinpoint exactly why he is targeted in the way other players are not.
