New Update on Warriors Star's Contract Talks

In this story:
Earlier this month, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne said on The Lowe Post podcast that the Golden State Warriors and star guard Klay Thomson had exchanged proposals on a contract extension. While Shelburne added that neither side is in a rush, she did push back against the idea that there had been no dialogue between the two sides.
In a new update, Anthony Slater of The Athletic also mentioned there being no rush from either side, but said there has not been any official offers or counteroffers yet.
"There’s more built-in complexity to the Thompson contract talks," Slater said. "Here’s where it stands: No official offers or counteroffers have been made from either side, according to league sources who were granted anonymity so that they could speak freely. No exact salary numbers have been floated. There isn’t a rush from either side, and there isn’t a deadline. It could theoretically be done in-season, though I’d expect serious discussions (and perhaps an agreement) to come before that."
The difference between Shelburne's report and this one from Slater doesn't change the bottom line that both Thompson and the Warriors want to extend their partnership, but it does add some clarity to where those talks are right now. As Slater broke down in his piece, there is a lot for the Warriors to figure out financially before settling on an extension with Thompson, but it seems both sides remain committed to getting that done.
